Bay Area Ballet Conservatory offers ballet classes for ages 2-18, divided into three divisions: Primary, Dance, and Pre-Professional. Our Character, Modern/Contemporary, Jazz, Tap & Hip Hop classes are open to students in any division, with respect to our age and level guidelines.
Primary Division Ballet
Our Primary Division is comprised of our first 6 levels of ballet study. Each level builds the foundation of classical ballet, with each level increasing in difficulty. The traditions, techniques and disciplines of classical ballet are introduced in an age-appropriate manner.
Placement in our Parent & Me, Creative Movement, Ballet & Tap Combo, Pre Ballet 1, and Pre Ballet 2, Level 1A and Level 1B is primarily based on a student's age and maturity. Most children that are in first grade and higher will be placed directly in to our Level 1A class.
Our Parent & Me class is a non-performing class. Performing opportunities available for Creative Movement level and higher.
Dance Division Ballet
Our Dance Division is comprised of three levels of ballet study, Elementary, Intermediate, and Advanced. Each Dance Division class requires only a one ballet class per week commitment, perfect for the recreational dancer. Our non-ballet classes (jazz, tap, hip hop, etc) are open to students in any division, with respect to our age and level guidelines.
Placement is determined by teacher recommendation for existing students or by a complimentary placement/trial class for new students.
All Dance Division classes participate in our year-end Student Concert. Dance Division students are eligible to audition for a role in our annual production of “Clara’s Dream.”
Pre Professional Division Ballet & Pointe
Our Pre Professional Division is for dancers who wish to dedicate themselves to their dance training on a more committed level. This division is suited for the student whose goal is a is to reach their fullest potential and/or are considering a profession in dance. Students thrive in our program that offers individualized attention, a nurturing environment, performing opportunities and a professional faculty. Students can expect to spend multiple years in each level mastering the material.
Excellent attendance and effort is expected.
All Pre Professional Division classes participate in our year-end Student Concert performance, with exception to first-year pointe students. For increased performance opportunity, students in Level 4A and higher are eligible to join Bay Area Ballet Youth Company.
Modern/Contemporary, Character, Jazz, Tap & Hip Hop Classes
Our non-ballet classes are open to any division student, with respect to our age and level guidelines. Students taking Modern/Contemporary, Character or Jazz must also be enrolled in a minimum of one ballet class per week. Tap and Hip Hop students do not need to be enrolled in any ballet classes.
