Student & Family Code Of Conduct

With the goal of creating a safe, welcoming and positive experience for all students, Bay Area Ballet Conservatory holds both its students and staff to a high standard of decorum.

The expectations below for our students and families serve to help instill the reverence and discipline that goes along with this artform, as well as help us grow the next generation of dancers and appreciators of the performing arts.

Bay Area Ballet Conservatory, at the sole discretion of is Administration, reserves the right to dismiss any student/family whose conduct is found unsatisfactory.

Primary Division Pre Ballet Expectations:

  • Please keep absences to a minimum, with exception to illness, injury or family emergency. Consistency is key to your student’s learning! If your student will be absent, please contact school@bayareabc.com.

  • Please arrive at least 10 minute prior to the start of class.

  • Please do not allow your child to enter a classroom without the presence of a faculty member.

  • Please make sure your student has used the restroom prior to the start of class. Your student will be allowed to leave to use the restroom at any time, but we want to limit this as much as possible to keep classes moving seamlessly!

  • Please do not leave the building during your student’s class, especially for younger Pre Ballet students.

  • Students need to be in uniform within two weeks of their first class, having the exact required dancewear.

  • Girls must have their hair pulled back in a ballet bun. Hair shorter than chin length may be secured in a pony-tail. Boys are to have a tidy and combed appearance at all times.

  • Parents must not enter the classroom unless invited by a faculty member.

  • Parents are not allowed to observe class except during Peek Week - Parent Observation classes.

  • Please do not hover at the door and peek in while class is in session. We know it is tempting!

  • Students that become upset during class and are not able to be calmed by the teacher will be released to parent/guardian that is present. When your student is calm, the parent/guardian may bring the student back to class.

  • Sometimes Pre Ballet students are nervous or shy to enter the classroom, especially on a first day of class. In this case, the teacher will do what they can to make the student feel comfortable, often offering the student to sit and observe and giving permission to join in the dancing fun whenever they are ready!

  • In addition to learning to dance, teachers will be working with students on taking turns, following instructions, waiting patiently, raising their hand to speak, helping others, sharing, and other age appropriate social skills and behavior practiced in a dance class setting. If a child is struggling in any of these areas, the teacher may communicate with a parent an area to work together on improving.
