AUDITION INFORMATION FOR

NEW & VISITING STUDENTS

SCHEDULE AN AUDITION:

Bay Area Ballet Conservatory’s Summer Dance Intensive is appropriate for intermediate through advanced level dancers, ideally accustomed to a minimum of 3 ballet technique classes per week during their yearly training.

An audition is required for visiting or new students to ensure readiness for the program. Auditioning students who are not ready for our Summer Dance Intensive may instead be recommended for our Young Dancer Intensive or our evening program classes.

Currently enrolled Bay Area Ballet Conservatory students do not need to attend an audition and may register directly if the dancer is currently enrolled in Level 4A, Level 4B, Level 5, Teen Ballet III or Level 6.

Audition Attire:

  • Females - Any color/style ballet leotard, pink tights (worn under leotard and over feet), ballet shoes, pointe shoes (if applicable), and hair in a neat ballet bun.

  • Males - White or black solid t-shirt, form-fitting. White, black or grey dance tights or athletic shorts. White or black ballet shoes.

Audition Fee: $30, payable in-person on the day of scheduled audition.


Tuition Dues & Policy

A $250 / week tuition deposit is due upon registration to secure place in program which goes towards Summer Dance Intensive tuition balance. The remaining tuition balance is auto-processed on June 1, 2026. Tuition installments may be arranged by request, with balances planned to be at $0 by July 1, 2026.

Summer Dance Intensive is not available for proration or day rates, with the exception of BABC dancers joining late due to attending an approved outside summer intensive program.

Note: Only dancers present for the entirety of Week 2 can participate in the August 1 end-of-intensive performance demonstration.

Participants are expected to be present for all classes during the week(s) registered. Early Dismissals are not permitted for various family events, appointments and conflicts, with exception to urgent medical related appointments needed for the student.

All tuition & fees (audition fee, deposit, tuition) are non-refundable for any reason and non-transferrable to tuition credit for any reason.

A supply list will be provided via email on or around June 1.

The weekly schedule is posted for the dancers during the intensive and is not provided in advance. Dancers have ballet, contemporary, and pointe/pre-pointe every day, so please pack accordingly.

Lunch / Food is not provided. Dancers should have a packed lunch and snacks. BABC has a kitchen (sink/microwave/refrigerator/freezer) on-site for dancer use. Due to allergies - no tree nuts please.


SUMMER INTENSIVE FACULTY

Lindsey Salvadalena - Director

Raised in Louisiana, Lindsey received her classical ballet training from Constantin Apetrei, a graduate of the Bolshoi Ballet Academy, Kelly Fortier and Jan Miller, as well as time spent at the Washington School of Ballet, Ballet Magnificat!, and on scholarship at the Boston Ballet School. Lindsey is a graduate of New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA/Riverfront) and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance from the Conservatory of Dance at State University of New York / Purchase.  Over the course of her career, she performed many classical works, including: Sleeping Beauty, Paquita, Coppélia, Raymonda, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Peter Pan and The Nutcracker. Notable roles include the "Pas de Trois" from Paquita, "Swanhilda's Friend" from Coppélia, "Tiger Lily" in Peter Pan, "Flower Couple," "Arabian Soloist," and "Snow Queen" and “Sugar Plum Fairy” from The Nutcracker.  Lindsey has danced for Liss Fain Dance, Oakland Ballet, Bay Pointe Ballet as well as freelancing as a guest artist in the San Francisco Bay Area and the New Orleans metropolitan area. As an educator, Lindsey has been teaching for over twenty-years. Lindsey has been the Artistic Director of Bay Area Ballet Conservatory since 2018 and Artistic and Executive Director of Bay Area Youth Ballet since its inception in 2023.

Chelsea Hix - Assistant Director

Chelsea began her ballet training at Sebastopol Ballet School and went on to train at the Academy of International Ballet in Philadelphia. She has had the honor of working extensively with Anastasia Babayeva and Denis Gronostayskiy of the Bolshoi Ballet, and Tamara Statkoun of the Kirov Ballet. She has been a company member with International Ballet Classique, Connecticut Ballet, and Peninsula Ballet Theatre, and has had performance opportunities with Oakland Ballet, Ballet Santa Barbara, and as a guest artist throughout the Bay Area. She has also holds a BA in English and French from Sonoma State University.

 

Terez Dean - Ballet

Terez is a ballet teacher and arts program director based in San Francisco. Originally from Hudson Valley, New York, Terez received her training at the prestigious School of American Ballet, the official school of the New York City Ballet. Starting her professional dance career in 2005, Terez danced with State Street Ballet of Santa Barbara and Smuin Ballet, featured in works by Jiří Kylián, Trey McIntyre, Helen Pickett, Val Caniparoli, Anabelle Lopez Ochoa, Amy Seiwert, Ma Cong, and Jennifer Archibald. Terez has her BA through the Saint Mary’s College LEAP program and recently co-founded Jettison Creative, a production studio built to assist creatives. Honing her passion for ballet and building a community, Terez's classes are rooted in technique, energy, and heart- fostering a comfortable and inclusive atmosphere that makes artists excited to explore and grow.

 

Olivia Powell - Ballet

Olivia Powell is a native of the Boston area and received her ballet training from the Boston Ballet School. She attended New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts’ dance department and received her BFA with first class honors at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. Ms. Powell then joined The Alabama Ballet where she performed in works such as George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker, as the dew drop fairy, and Tarantella. She also performed in Jiri Kylian’s Sechs Tanze, Agnes De Mille’s Rodeo. In 2014, she joined Ballet Memphis where she worked with many choreographers including Mark Godden, Steven McMahon, Uri Sands, Joshua L. Peugh, Gabrielle Lamb, Julia Adam and Julie Marie Niekrasz. Ms. Powell has also choreographed several works for Ballet Memphis’ “Pairings” and The Alabama Ballet’s “Choreographic Showcase”. Since joining Diablo Ballet in 2019, Ms. Powell has performed in ballets by Julia Adam, Val Caniparoli, Sean Kelly, Bruno Roche, Penny Saunders, Sally Streets, Stanton Welch, and Michael Wells. She has danced the female variation in Esmeralda, The Black Swan Pas de Deux, Swanhilda in Coppélia and in George Balanchine’s Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux and Who Cares? and Principal in Donizetti Variations. Alongside her dancing career, Ms. Powell has nearly 20 years of teaching experience. Teaching at schools and programs like: Boston Ballet School, The School at Ballet Memphis, Alabama Ballet School, Berkeley Ballet, Diablo Ballet School and more. She is very excited to be working with the dancers of the Bay Area Ballet Conservatory this summer!

 

Kevyn Butler - Modern

Born in Oakland, CA, Kevyn Butler is an alumnus of Oakland School for the Arts where he studied Ballet, Modern and Contemporary dance under the direction of Reginald Ray-Savage. Kevyn holds a BFA in Dance from the University of Arizona. He has taught internationally and was a member of the faculty at Booker T. Washington HSPVA. Butler has appeared with Ad Deum Dance Company, Störling Dance Theater, Oakland Ballet, and the José Limón Dance Festival. His performance repertoire includes works by Twyla Tharp, Jiri Kylian, Lar Lubovitch, and Garrett Smith. He has worked with choreographers including Norbert de la Cruz III, Steve Rooks, Robert Garland, Danielle Agami, Guy Shomroni, and Yaniv Abraham, and is a former member of Ronald K. Brown Evidence, a Dance Company, Brucewood Dance Dallas, Oakland Ballet, and Zion Dance Project. Kevyn is currently a freelance Choreographer, dancer, and educator in the Bay Area.

















 
 


Vinnie Jones - Contemporary & Character

Vinnie Jones received her early dance training in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, studying ballet, jazz, and modern dance. She went on to the University of Utah, where she got her BFA in dance performance, teaching, and character dance. She has danced professionally with Ballet Tucson, San Diego Ballet, Menlowe Ballet, and LaMov Compania de Danza of Spain. With these companies, she has performed principal roles in CinderellaSleeping BeautySwan LakeLe Corsaire, and Balanchine's Serenade. She has also danced a variety of contemporary works. She has traveled all around the world, performing and studying in Greece, Spain, Mexico, Canada, France, and Ukraine. She has also studied folk dances and character dances from around Europe, Polynesia, and Asia. She is looking forward to working with the dancers of Bay Area Ballet Conservatory this summer!


Rowan Williams - Composition/Irish

Rowan received her classical ballet training at Pacific Northwest Ballet as well as training and competing in Irish Dance at her mother’s Irish Dance school in Seattle, WA. In addition to training at Pacific Northwest Ballet, she additionally spent summers studying at American Ballet Theatre NY and San Francisco Ballet School.

During her classical ballet training, Rowan performed various works by George Balanchine, including Serenade and Stars and Stripes, in addition to participating in numerous other company productions. She then pursued a BFA in Dance with Alonzo King LINES Ballet, to explore contemporary and modern dance styles. She had the opportunity to perform works by choreographers such as Sidra Bell, Gregory Dawson, Carmen Rozestraten, Dexandro Montalvo, and others.

Since earning her degree, Rowan has worked as a freelance dance artist performing for West Bay Opera, Andrea Salazar, Oceanica Ballet, and the Deborah Slater Residency. Alongside performing, Rowan is a certified GYROTONIC Trainer.
